Welcome to Jono & Johno’s weekly blog.

Pressure Pumps.

From here we will keep you updated on all the latest news from Jono & Johno, as well as providing some handy information in the world of chainsaw equipment and outdoor power machinery.

This week we will be taking a quick look at water pumps.

Jono & Johno has three types of petrol powered water pumps.

  1.
  2. High volume transfer pumps

  3.

Our camping pump range are low volume, low pressure. These sorts of pumps are great for transferring water from a nearby river to your campsite, watering your garden or even for gold sluicing. They can be used for high volume transfer but you’ll need to be prepared to throw the kettle on (and go through a few tanks of fuel) while it does the job.

Our high volume transfer pumps are designed for, you guessed it, high volume transfer. The outlets are either 2” or 3” and the impellers are geared towards moving water in large amounts over a short distance. They are not suitable for transferring water over long distances (not if you want to move the water quickly). Ideally suited for transfer from a dam to a nearby water pod, or from a water truck to a tank.

Our pressure pumps are more commonly referred to as fire pumps. The impeller is different to the transfer pumps, designed to push the water through the outlet at a higher pressure. They are the most versatile pumps in our range. They can be used for short distance water transfer (still transferring at a reasonable rate), long distance transfer and fire fighting.

They all feature a 2” inlet and three outlets; 2 x 1” and 1 x 1.5”. The 1” outlet will create the highest pressure and allow for the longest distance transfer (assuming a 1” hose is being used).

It is important to remember that the units, while specifically designed to assist in fire fighting, are not going to hold back a raging bushfire. They are to be used to put out ember attacks and spot fires while still maintaining a safe distance from the fire. We strongly discourage anyone from purchasing anything other than a high pressure pump for fire fighting purposes.

Jono & Johno plays a key role in the manufacturing process of their pump range. They have worked tirelessly to ensure that their pumps are equal in quality to the leading brand names on the market.

If you want to move water, whether it’s up a hill, through a sluice, towards a fire or into your camp site, these are the guys to talk to.
