The nose sprocket is the part that wears out first on a replaceable-tip bar. Replacing the tip costs a fraction of a new bar, and gets you back to clean, straight cuts.

Which one do I need:

Not sure which pitch you have:

Check the stamp on your bar — most bars have the pitch and gauge marked near the mount
Check your chain packaging or the part number of the chain you last fitted
As a rule of thumb, .404" is found on larger professional saws, while 3/8" is the most common pitch across mid-size and large saws

This tip suits Hurricane Pro and Oregon bars only. GB and Tsumura bars use a different tip design and need their own matching nose.

How to replace a chainsaw bar nose tip

Fitting it:

Both options are held by a single rivet, which makes this one of the easier nose replacements to do. It's a workshop job rather than a field repair, but it's straightforward with the right tools:

Drill or punch out the rivet holding the old nose
Slide the old nose out and fit the new one
Place the new rivet through the mounting hole
Peen the rivet head flat with a ball-peen hammer, working against a heavy, solid surface such as an anvil or vice

The rivet is included with either option, so there is nothing else to buy.

Take your time peening — the rivet needs to be properly flattened to hold the nose securely under load.

WHAT IS COVERED?

The exact warranty coverage depends on two factors:

Whether the fault is due to user error or a manufacturer defect
Whether the fault is minor or major

Minor faults caused by the user

Parts will be supplied for repair at the user's expense.

Minor faults caused by the manufacturer

Customers are expected to perform basic repairs as part of our warranty process.
Jono & Johno will provide replacement parts and instructions for simple repairs, such as installing a recoil starter.
Jono & Johno will determine whether a fault is classified as minor.
If unsure about a repair, contact us, and we’ll assist you.

Major faults caused by the manufacturer

Jono & Johno will arrange a return, refund, or replacement at our expense.
If preferred (and at our discretion), we may provide replacement parts and contribute to labour costs if you can perform the repair.

Major faults caused by the user

Where possible, parts will be supplied at the user's expense.
If the item cannot be repaired by the user, we offer repairs at our workshop at $80 AUD per hour.
The customer will need to cover return shipping costs for user-related faults.

RETURN PROCESS & SHIPPING COSTS

If you need to return your product:

In-store return: If you're near a Jono & Johno outlet, you can return the product in person. Contact us first to arrange a return authority.
Shipping return: If you are not within driving distance, we will provide a return address.
- If the fault is due to a manufacturer defect, we’ll cover return costs.
- If the fault is user-related, the customer is responsible for return shipping.

EXCEPTIONS TO THE RULE

Some products are not covered by warranty, including:

Engines used in go-karts and stump grinders

OUT-OF-WARRANTY PRODUCTS

If your product is out of warranty and has failed despite minimal use, contact us. We may assess it on a case-by-case basis. If a manufacturer defect is identified, we aim to be fair in resolving the issue—but this is at our discretion.
