Clutch removal tool for Husqvarna, Jonsered, Poulan Pro, Sears and Craftsman chainsaws — two-pin design with a 19mm hex drive.

Chainsaw clutches are tightened by the engine itself and have a reverse thread, so they cannot be removed with ordinary tools. The two pins on this tool drop into the matching holes in the clutch face and grip it squarely, so you can turn it off without damaging anything.

Fitment depends on the clutch having a matching two-pin pattern, so it does not suit every version of every model listed. Before ordering, take the sprocket cover off and look at the face of your clutch — if it has two holes set either side of the centre, this tool will fit it. Compare it against the photos in this listing. If you're still unsure, send us a photo of your clutch and we'll have a look.

How to use it:

Remove the sprocket cover from the saw
Remove the spark plug and fit a piston stop in its place
Spin the clutch to rotate the engine until the piston comes up against the stop
Sit the tool on the clutch so both pins drop into the matching holes and it seats flat
Using a 19mm socket, bar wrench or spanner, turn clockwise to undo the clutch

Remember the clutch has a reverse thread — it undoes clockwise, not anticlockwise. Forcing it the wrong way is the most common way people damage a clutch or a crankshaft.

Please note:

Use a hand tool, not an impact wrench. The pins on a cast tool like this can shear under impact. This is not covered under warranty!

Take the piston stop out and replace it with the spark plug before starting the saw.

The exact warranty coverage depends on two factors:

Whether the fault is due to user error or a manufacturer defect
Whether the fault is minor or major

Minor faults caused by the user

Parts will be supplied for repair at the user's expense.

Minor faults caused by the manufacturer

Customers are expected to perform basic repairs as part of our warranty process.
Jono & Johno will provide replacement parts and instructions for simple repairs, such as installing a recoil starter.
Jono & Johno will determine whether a fault is classified as minor.
If unsure about a repair, contact us, and we’ll assist you.

Major faults caused by the manufacturer

Jono & Johno will arrange a return, refund, or replacement at our expense.
If preferred (and at our discretion), we may provide replacement parts and contribute to labour costs if you can perform the repair.

Major faults caused by the user

Where possible, parts will be supplied at the user's expense.
If the item cannot be repaired by the user, we offer repairs at our workshop at $80 AUD per hour.
The customer will need to cover return shipping costs for user-related faults.

RETURN PROCESS & SHIPPING COSTS

If you need to return your product:

In-store return: If you're near a Jono & Johno outlet, you can return the product in person. Contact us first to arrange a return authority.
Shipping return: If you are not within driving distance, we will provide a return address.
- If the fault is due to a manufacturer defect, we’ll cover return costs.
- If the fault is user-related, the customer is responsible for return shipping.

EXCEPTIONS TO THE RULE

Some products are not covered by warranty, including:

Engines used in go-karts and stump grinders

OUT-OF-WARRANTY PRODUCTS

If your product is out of warranty and has failed despite minimal use, contact us. We may assess it on a case-by-case basis. If a manufacturer defect is identified, we aim to be fair in resolving the issue—but this is at our discretion.
